A global study of temporal and spatial variation of SWH and wind speed and their correlation

摘要: 波高和海面风速是海洋学和气象学所关注的重要参数, 对海岸工程、近海工程以及航海等有重要影响。本文利用1992年9月~2005年10月连续13年的TOPEX/Poseidon卫星高度计资料对全球有效波高和海面风速的时空分布特征及变化规律进行了研究, 对各大洋有效波高和海面风速时间变化的强度和特征进行了定量的分析, 对强浪区和大风区进行了准确定位, 并简要分析了有效波高和海面风速的相关关系。值得指出的是本文采用的是目前为止资料最长, 分辨率最高, 信息量最大的全球有效波高和海面风速资料。

Abstract: The climatology of significant wave height (SWH) and sea surface wind speed are matters of concern in the fields of both meteorology and oceanography because they are very important parameters for planning offshore structures and ship routings. The TOPEX/Poseidon altimeter, which collected data for about 13 years from September 1992 to October 2005, has measured SWHs and surface wind speeds over most of the world's oceans. In this paper, a study of the global spatiotemporal distributions and variations of SWH and sea surface wind speed was conducted using the TOPEX/Poseidon altimeter data set. The range and characteristics of the variations were analyzed quantitatively for the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans. Areas of rough waves and strong sea surface winds were localized precisely, and the correlation between SWH and sea surface wind speed analyzed.-
