The Beaufort Gyre variation and its impacts on the Canada Basin in 2003-2012

  • 摘要: 波弗特流涡是调控北冰洋上层海洋的重要因素, 其在过去十多年里自旋加速。加拿大海盆上层海洋不仅热含量和淡水含量显著增加, 还有更多的动能输入其中。地转风涡度和淡水含量的增加都贡献于波弗特流涡的自旋加速。即使风场没有变化, 单独由淡水含量的增加也能造就波弗特流涡的自旋加速。本研究显示在波弗特流涡自旋加速时太平洋水不易直接流入海盆中部, 在2005年和2009年波弗特流涡中心处的夏季太平洋水(PSW)温度极大值呈现出显著的降低, 这与夏季太平洋水流动路径发生的转向有关。艾克曼泵压的增强会辐聚更多的淡水进而使得太平洋冬季水(PWW)加深。水柱动力学性质的转变也贡献于2007年之后北极中层水的加深。在2012年艾克曼泵压显著减小(意味着波弗特流涡的自旋减速), 艾克曼输运方向转向北方也有利于在加拿大海盆多年积聚的淡水的释放。
