  • 摘要: 1998年12月航次是迄今为止冬季唯一一次覆盖了整个南海西边界海域的海洋调查。它全尺度地揭示了冬季南海迅疾而幅窄的西边界流的三维结构及其庞大的体积输运。该西边界流自香港外海直至巽他陆架沿大陆架外沿流动,其幅宽在100km左右,垂直尺度约400m。在中印半岛外海该海流达最强,其体积输运超过了20 Sv(1Sv=1×106m3s-1)。在其上游南海北部香港以西海域该海流偏弱,更往东则观测到一黑潮流套或其分离涡旋从吕宋海峡侵入,西边界流不复存在。该结果表明,观测期间南海冬季西边界流主要源自南海内部环流之注入,而非如以往表层漂流浮标所示来自吕宋海峡的黑潮“分支”。那可能只是一近表层现象,对南海冬季西边界流的总输运贡献偏小。论文并讨论了若干相关问题。
